Tryouts & Evaluation Process
Tryouts for U11–U18 start Sunday, September 7th.
U7 & U9 begin Sunday, September 14.
Evaluation Steps Overview
Step 1: Group Assignments
- Group lists will be posted early this week on the CSLMHA website.
- Groups are organized alphabetically by position.
- Requests to change groups will not be accepted.
- Group assignments may change at any time. Billy Sampson and the technical team may adjust as needed. Please check the website regularly for updates.
Step 2: Schedule
- The full schedule will be posted early this week on the CSLMHA website.
- Please ONLY attend the session assigned to your child’s group. If you arrive for the wrong session, your child will not be permitted on the ice.
- Arrive at the arena at least 30 minutes before your session.
Step 3: Check-In & Tryout Jersey Pickup
- Check in at the Evaluation Desk, located near the vending machines at the arena.
- Your child will receive a reversible tryout jersey with a unique number that stays the same throughout tryouts.
- Light/dark jersey color assignment will be based on group placement.
Important:
- Tryout jerseys must be returned once teams are finalized.
- Unreturned or lost jerseys will incur a $30 fee. Players will not receive their game jerseys until this is resolved.
- Trading jerseys is strictly prohibited.
Step 4: Evaluation Format
- Evaluations will be based entirely on game play, not individual skill sessions.
- Players will be assessed on Skating, shooting, passing, Game awareness, teamwork, attitude, Ice time management, and more.
- Evaluations will be conducted by multiple, impartial evaluators under the guidance of our Technical Director, Billy Sampson and Vinnie Matteo to ensure fairness.
Zero Tolerance: No interference or direct contact with the technical team regarding evaluations or player placement will be permitted.
Step 5: Attendance Policy
- Attendance is mandatory.
- If your child cannot attend a session, please notify us immediately at info@cslmha.com.
Step 6: Group Updates & Team Formation
U11-U18 teams will be tentatively confirmed before Rosh Hashana (September 22), with some changes possible through the end of the month due to Double Letter cuts.
In some divisions, additional balancing games may be required if two teams at the same level (e.g., two M11 B teams) are formed.
Please note: Limited parking at Trudeau Park/Arena on Sunday, September 7 due to an event. Please arrive early and use nearby street parking if needed.
